Chasing Dreams on the Netball Court

When the whistle blows and the game begins, everything else fades away. I discovered that netball is not just a game – it’s where grit meets heartbeat.
Growing up in Hammanskraal, netball was everywhere. – on the dusty courts and in the stories of girls. I lapped it up, joining every match I could. At high school I was hooked – chasing every pass, every goal, and a spot at the top teams.
I am now team captain. I’m learning that it’s not just about winning. It’s also about leading, lifting others, and making every “we did it” count.
Netball is also about the people who push you. My coach, Thato Moleta, saw potential in me when I couldn't see it myself. She pushed me, believed in me, and reminded me that falling is part of the game – getting back up is what defines you. I will carry that belief with me for the rest of my netball journey.
On the court, I learned the value of resilience and adaptability — no two games are the same. Off the court, I learned to trust the process, even when it doesn't show immediate results. Growth often happens in silence.
My advice to all netballers: Don’t chase perfection — chase progress. Stay patient, stay consistent, and remember that your journey won’t look like anyone else’s. Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.
